    Brass Availability Question

Are any of the brass manufacturers such as Winchester or Remington actually making .30-40 brass shell cases anymore? Most of the places where I used to buy empty cases from no longer carry .30-40 Kragicon brass. Thanks......

I buy live ammo at gunshows when it's there. I'm in Canadaicon so it's worse here. I can buy factory new ammo at our gunstore here but it's about $45 CDN a box of 20. The way I've done it, I now have nearly 500 rds to rotate through. We never get the new unprimed brass here...never.
    Regards, Jim

Thanks for the replies guys. I haven't been shooting Krags for very long and at first I was able to find new Winchester and Remington brass all over. Now I can't find it anywhere. I have even written to some of the brass manufacturers trying to get them interested in making .30-40 brass but so far no luck.

I couldn't find any around here,so I made some using .303 Britishicon HXP brass run through a FL sizing die to knock the shoulder back. The neck is a bit shorter, but I just use a longer bullet, and measure OL.These work fine for me,and I was told,no different than .38 in .357's,except not nearly as extreme.

Not trying to confuse anyone that reads this old post of mine, but I was recently informed by a couple of sources that Winchester and Remington are out of the .30-40 ammunition making business. As I was told earlier in my post I can fabricate brass for use in my Kragicon, but has anyone heard if any other brass manufacturer is considering making .30-40 brass? I guess I'm pretty lucky that just about the time I bought my first Krag I also bought a few bags of new Remington brass, but it doesn't hurt to have another source for components.

    Thanks, Rick H.

Not sure of your sources, but Remington sales still thinks they make it in the core-lokt line.

you could try Bertram Brass in Australiaicon, i didn't see it on a list of their products, but that was on a re-sellers site so... if you buy from them direct from them it isn't quite as expensive. over here their .303 is A$100 posted for 100 cases (last time i asked, 6-9 months ago).
