Greek Garand Rebuild Program

Does anyone have information on the Greek Garand rebuild program? They seemed to use a lot of SA 12-54 to 2-55 dated barrels.

Very little info about that program as near as I can see from threads posted here and elsewhere.

Apparently the finish is some sort of anodizing or paint. Very thick and not fluid.

My Greek Field Grades have barrels from same range and all came through as Field Grades rather despite the fact the barrels were new or nearly so, some measuring 0.0 to 1.0. Strange they weren't rated any better, but several had mechanical problems to deal with and that may have been the reason for the downgrading of these particular rifles.

my hra correct was a greek return. it had a cleaning kit in the butt with greek printing. pretty sure they didn't mess with it. greeks are better at working with stone and cooking than mechanical metal stuff.

I doubt if Greece had anything more than field expedient repairs with refinishing that ranged from rust blue to black oxide, depending on what could be had or how hot the tank got. Remember, this country has a GNP of what, maybe Vermont?

I just re-parked a bolt that had the Black Greek Park (or whatever it is ont it). I think the reason they did that is it hid corrosion/pitting better. I noticed minor pitting on the bolt after I got it out of the blasting cabinet, so now it definitely looks like a re-parked bolt. Oh well, at least it matches color-wise with the rest of my gun now.
