The last edition.... to the workshop.

Quite surprised to see this Milling Machine come up on a search on ebay, I own a lathe built by them and is an excellent bit of kit, they are old and heavy but well built.

My current milling machine was a good one but was struggling to get the vertical milling attachment, I,d made one out of bits etc but was a bit Heah Robinson.

For the price it was a steal and I thought the size difference was not a great deal , I was wrong regarding that !!! but once in position it was like putting the final peace of the jigsaw puzzle in place.

For the extra bits I got with it, a milling machine vice (seen in the pic) and two boxes of clarkson chucks and collets I was more than pleased.

Bit of logistic nightmare as it arrived on two pallets, so had to cut the two ends off, jack it up support it on the corners then remove the pallet. Made an extra strong pallet, then placed this under and removed the supports. Just the motor to rewire to 240 and fit a start capacitor. should keep me busy this winter coming.

Probably not the best thing for my back right now but didn't really do any bending, must admit the pallet truck was a life saver.......

Nice knee mill. Was the vice included? I assume it is set up to run on 220v? My shop has a wood floor and I had to build a concrete island to support my lathes. I still have my Bridgeport mill but I am using a small bench mill that works really well for what I do.

Yep the vice was included, its a 3 phase 400-415V motor, I,m sure its a duel voltage motor but have yet to check was going to change it to 230V and add a few capacitors and run it a, I have a spare 230V one ready to go just need to bush the shaft for the pulley.

To be honest Muffer I was thinking the same thing when I seen it on the back of the wagon, just in so went past the lathe and the work bench, involved a clear out also ..... which was long overdue.
