    Sling marking help

Anyone know about this marking on my Carbine sling?

I read the two sticky posts ( same? ) if you look closely the flipped running end and around the stud base you can see remnants of green hue. when flipped all
    basically faded to tan.

the sides that were against the rifle are greenish and the outside an even tan.

    any info greatly appreciated

I believe it is the first letter in last name and last four digits of soldier's serial number. Often seen on ww2 era U.S. military personal issued gear.
