    K98/Mosin Nagent extreme cold performance

I have heard mentioned, in the past, that one of the problems that the German Army faced during their time in Russiaicon in WW2 during the winter was that the actions of the K98icon had a tendency to freeze solid in extreme cold and it being impossible to operate the bolt. Did the Russians have similar problems with their Mosin Nagant rifles when used under similar conditions or were they better able to cope with the cold? The Mosin Nagant rifles that I have examined seem to have had what appears to me as sloppy bolts and I have put this down to wear because the rifles have had a lot of use. Or were the Mosin Nagant rifles manufactured with greater clearances on items such as the bolt in order that it could better cope with extreme cold?

Does any-one have any information on the performance of the K98/Mosin Nagant during the extreme cold of a harsh Russian winter, please?

It appears it came down to lubricates chosen. The sloppy bolt is just how MN's are it's not a wear issue.
