Captured… German paratrooper looking over the M1 Garand. During the Battle of the Bulge, German troops disguised themselves as USGI’s and carried American weapons as part of Operation Grief. They more than likely had prior training with these weapons in case their cover was blown prior to the sneak attack.

From memory weren't they part of Piepers mob that did the Malmedy atrocity and I think they were all either shot or executed when the plan failed as they were supposed to create confusion at cross roads directing traffic the wrong ways and just general mayhem.
Took a chance and well got what should happen shot as spies......anyway I could be wrong on the plan but Pieper ordered the shooting of those PBGI's
