Thanks for finding that Rob! It looks as if a good combination could be a light linseed oil, maybe with a slight stain to show up the figuring - something like Sherrell's Shaft Oil - followed (after some considerable time, to make sure the linseed is really dry) by a top coat of Tru-Oil to provide a grub-proof finish. But it also looks as if to much Tru-Oil would produce an excessively lacquered look that is inappropriate for military rifles.
Has anyone tried this combination?
