    SRS check for RIA "03

    Hi,
New here and have been trying to absorb as much info on the '03 as I can. I have the opportunity to buy a RIA '03 advertised as an NRA Sporter. I"m doubtful of it since I read that there were not any made with RIA receivers.

Would someone that has access please check RIA Serial # 338533 to see exactly what it started out as? Many thanks in advance. Here are the only pics I have of it at the time.

I can't help with the serial number but that looks like a Vaver sight. That would be worth a couple bucks to a collector.

No SRS hit. The other posters are right about no RIA receivers used. However, a number of blank RIA receivers were used in NRA Sporters. Nearly every M1903 in the 1,290,000 range was a recovered "blank" (or raw forging) receiver obtained from Rock Island, when they ceased manufacturing M1903s. I have one of them.

Can you post a closeup of the rear locking lug on the bolt? NRA and NM rifles had quite distinctive polishing in this area.
