Need Help identifying My No4 MK1/2

I recently got my ex father in Laws guns willed to me and one is a No4 MK1/2 (F) FTR Serial number: 5LFA25466 I was hoping that someone could tell me more about it i.e. year it was made and so forth. I'm sorry if this is in the wrong thread and thank you in advance for the help.

It's not identifiasble with that number sequence which doesn't fit into any category. A photo of the body side wall will help

I think "5L" might actually be 51 as in 1951. Serial number then might be FA25466

Max was right (thread 3). Your rifle was originally made as a No4 Mk1 at Fazakerley in Liverpool and was returned there during the huge Factory Repair programme in the early 50's (1951 in your case) to be totally rebuilt and converted to the later Mk1/2 specification. The A after the serial number indicates to Armourers that, in short, some component parts fitted to the body are not truly interchangeable and will need careful hand fitting in the future.

  7. Thank You to Peter Laidler For This Useful Post:
