    Unknown Mark on a Bavarian

On my Bavarian Rockola I have this "X" mark on the the right side of the Receiver. I been looking at others and so far I have not come across one. Would anyone know why this X was placed there. Thank You

The receiver was used during an unspecified test conducted by Rockola.

My 1.73 Rock Ola also has that X, War Baby, page 398: "Various components (hammer, slides, barrels and receivers) manufactured by Rock-Ola throughout all of its four assigned SN blocks are sometimes found marked with a small X. These were taken at random during production from the assembly line, marked X for identification purposes, and used for quality control testing or experimentation. Components not damaged or destroyed in these tests were returned for acceptance, assembly and issue"

Thanks for the help...I was looking in my books and reading past post and I missed it. I had figured it was meant for something it would be unusual for someone to add this mark to the receiver for there own purposes. Thanks Brian and Cali.
