He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose
There are no great men, only great challenges that ordinary men are forced by circumstances to meet.
Not much cover.
Looks like they are really hesitant to move forward.
Good thinking/survival.

Some one or something (Weapons cannister maybe) had a prickly landing in the tree in the foreground center Left. They are all to the left of the tree trunks a suggestion fire is coming from perhaps center right.
Trees are the only "cover" they have.
Hope they are hard (really hard!) trees.

I suppose your right Jim but in all honesty anything is better than nothing when the lead flies are buzzing about may stop a 7.92 round but not a hope if they are facing a quad 20mm.....................
A small tree may only be concealment and not cover but I damn sure wouldn't pass it up
Better up against a tree trunk than sticking out like dog's balls out in the open.
"anything is better than nothing when the lead flies are buzzing"
For sure... and it will stop a puny MP40 round or grenade shrapnel, so why not. BTW, an M1will kill you on the other side of an 18" pine tree.
Real men measure once and cut.
