We have a large contingent over at Merville Battery last night through today from The Parachute Regiment honouring those who lost their lives just before midnight on the 6th of June in their succesful attack to silence the guns overlooking all the beaches of Normandy, where every nation fought shoulder to shoulder.
RIP to all those who died from the 9th Battalion

The Normandy coast is well worth a visit; there are many excellent museums along with the concrete relics of the atlantic wall.
The Canadianicon museum at Juno beach is a must visit if in the area.

The importance of this date should be remembered; for it is the day that brought freedom to Europe!
