Lith '21 MkIII

Though I would post my Lith 1921 it came with a serialed to the rifle 07 1921 Lithgow bayonet with the Dbl stitch 1921 Lithgow Scabbard.
It looks a bit smudgy but there is no pitting or rust damage to the rifle that I can tell as I have never pulled it to bits completely save this partial one for the pics.

It was owned by a Gun dealer for @20 years and before that a ex WWII service man neither of these 2 gentlemen fired the weapon.
It has had new fore woods done sometime and these are in the white , that is they have not been finished completely and are still proud around the fittings.
The Gun dealer who had this sold it to me on the proviso I did not shoot it, I have had it for @4 years and kept the promise he passed away last year but I will still not shoot it.
I like the feel of the rough fore woods it gets a twice yearly oil and once year BLO/Min turp mix wood wipe over as no use puling it down when you do not need to it resides in the gunsafe with my 5MD 1916 Lithgow.

Interesting Cinders, mine is 261 rifles earlier, the PAA is 306 earlier, the butt is also stamped 4/44 and it also went to 4 MD.

Mines a bit closer muffer and refurbed 3/46.

Every 1921 Lithgow I've noted to date has been marked 4MD.

Just curious- any idea why your dealer said not to shoot it?

PROOFED ACTION ASSEMBLY. the matching numbers located at the right rear of the receiver and under the bolt handle, stamped when the parts were mated and before completion of the rifle.
Homer, you have not added that one to the survey.

Guess it was a legacy from the previous owner prior to the gun dealer buying it, just to be honest I do not have any issues not shooting it as I have other 303 workhorses to take down the range to cut paper or drop camels & donkey's so why mess with something that is unique to me plus the barrel is mint and was fitted 9 '21 why would I want to wear it out and turning it into just another early MkIII Lithgow.
I am pretty passionate about keeping my word the gun dealer was a friend who I made a pact with, when I visited him we kicked back him with his bottle of port (one of the conditions of the visit I supplied it usually 18 year old stuff)and me with gentleman jacks and spent many many hours talking guns he had a fabulous Luger collection and a broom-handle mauser pistol as well, ordnance from wall to wall I miss him he was old school, bit like my armourer friend who set up the guns on Rottnest island during the war he has now gone as well none left here now.........

Muffett I think Homer has this one tagged we discussed this piece a fair while ago as it does not have the parked finish but more blue I have no idea of its past save for what I have just said if it could speak we would all learn why it has the blue tinge as there is not FTR stampings on it or the stock butt.
