I was thinking about those very men just a couple days back...and the gear found in the ground with them, buried to avoid detection by the Japanese.

Looks like one of the WWI style cleaning kits sticking out where the stock has rotted away.

That would be correct too, considering this would be a very low number rifle. They would have the nickle oiler kit...
