    arsenal parkerized finish?

I am looking t an ithaca 1911A1 and in the description it says "arsenal parkerized finish", but it does not have any arsenal markings on it. Is this code for "bubba refinished this gun"? or did arsenals do this type of thing without marking the guns?
    Thanks,
    Matt

It could be an arsenal refinish or it may have been done by anyone it's hard to tell without seeing it and even then there's no guaranty. I would price it as a refinished gun and leave it at that.

Some of the arsenals/depots were good about marking their rebuilds while others were. You probably see more Augusta Arsenal, AA, and Rock Island Arsenal, RIA, rebuilds than anything else. Some arsenal marks are seen occasionally, and some not at all.
If the rebuilt pistol still has the DCM paperwork identifying it, it will bring a premium over a pistol that does not. As mentioned in the previous post, price the pistol as just another refinished pistol if there is no indication of a military rebuild.
