To be sure you have accurate info, look it up in the CMP rulebook and the 2009 match bulletin (which hasn't been issued yet). You'll find this stuff at the CMP website.
Competitions
Same as the JCG! All at 200 yds.....10 shots for record slow-prone with 5 sighters.....10 shots for record prone rapid-fire in 70 sec.....10 shots for record, slow-fire, standing.

John, I'm sure it will be a shock, but you're not infallible. For example, check the current rulebook for the R-F time limit in matches for manually-operated rifles (which are the original subject of this thread).
"In a Springfield or Vintage Military Rifie Match, where manually-operated rifies are used, the rapid-fire stage is 80 seconds."
We both know there's a very high probability "Course A" will again be used at Perry this year. (It would take a change of rule 9.4.1 to alter that.) The purpose of my replies is to encourage ohiosam to get his information straight from the CMP instead of from someone who might get it wrong.
Sam - here's a direct link for the rules if you haven't found them already - http://www.odcmp.com/Competitions/Rulebook.pdf
Thanks, I tried looking on the CMP's website and couldn't find it. I'm thinking of entering this year with my K-31. I'm left handed and I can work the bolt pretty good prone. Sitting is tougher for me and I'd have to work on that if it was part of the course.
The CMP rules list two different courses of fire for these "games". Which one is at the discretion of the match director. Read the bulletin when it becomes available April 1 to find out which course will be used this year at Perry. It will probably be the "A" version, 35 shots, but they could decide to use the "B" course, 55 shots.
The rulebook can be found at the web page linked in my earlier post.
The only course EVER used at the Nationals is the "A" Course! I know, I've shot all but 3 of them!
I've shot a number of them, too - all "A Course". But I learned long ago never to take last year's rules, or the contents of a not-yet-published match program, for granted. For example, the M1903 with which I fired my first two J.C.Garand matches at Perry was later excluded by a rule change. Had I not kept up with the latest news from CMP, I might have found myself 700 miles from home with a DQ'd rifle. Think about it before asserting immutability.
"August 5, 2000 - Camp Perry, Ohio - John Garand Match - 200 yds. Rapid prone"
In an absolute sense, you are correct. In a functional sense, in this specific case, you're being pedantic, and what's more, I'm pretty sure you know it!
When is the last time you saw ANY event at the Nationals get intentionally longer? Hint: I attended my first National Match in 1959....and I'm STILL waiting to see that happen! Changing a rifle-rule is "normal" and expected (made my Grandpa's 1903 that he shot in competition for YEARS ,and that I shot in the 2nd JCG "illegal" too), changing the course-of-fire at a National Match from a short format to a longer format....that's "practical immutability", AND YOU KNOW IT!
In this case "...very high probability" and "absolute certainty" is a distinction without any difference....which again, is something you already know!
