Get Ballistol and plenty of it.
'Really Senior Member' Especially since I started on the original Culver forum. That had to be about 1998.

    I-44,
I was hoping you'd chime in....
and you replied just as I expected

But it's 2017 and I've gotten lazier (is gotten a word?)
After finding this link in The Restorer's Corner, I believe I may try building a.............

    ELECTROLYSIS TANK

Surplusrifle Forum View topic - How to make and use an electrolysis tank *PICS*

For the 2 long guns, still not sure what I have. Believe some version of Jap 99 and maybe a Springfield. Just not sure, did get pics of the possible Jap 99, I'll post later this week. Still need pics of the Springfield version.

The Iver top break I think is that 2nd model Safety Automatic circa 1896 ~1909. .32 Cal S&W 5 shot. Nickel... so no in the tank, don't think it would be good for the finish. I do OK on the early pocket pistols as my Father was in them heavily along with folding pocket knives and pocket watches.

As a side: IIRC the last 3 Ivers I've gone thru all happen to be 'TAINTED' models. One was the same version used to kill J. Kennedy, another that killed a Chicago mayor in FLA in a botched attempt at getting FDR, and I believe this model is what Pres. Mckinley was shot with and died ~6-9 days later/ but was a different cal, .22 I believe.

I'll have to start replies in the correct forums after this, just figured (figured... used often by Mom) I'd get away with it here for a bit since the carbine forum has been slow. Just really got a laugh about the timing after my Happy New year post.

    Cheers,
