Mystery markings on a No4 Mk2* Pig-Sticker.

I have this Mk2* pig-sticker bayonet with slightly unusual markings and which I'm guessing to have replacement markings following a refurbishment? I would be interested to know who may have marked their No4 bayonets in this manner, No4 Mk2/1??? As can be seen, on the reverse side there appears to be a digit "8" in the centre and possibly a "P" at the edge. Thanks for any information.

The why's and wherefores, reasons and dates the Mark/types designation changed from the STAR to the OBLIQUE marker is too boring and time consuming to repeat yet again. But it changed VERY late war. So a No1 Mk3* rifle became to Armourers a No1 Mk3/1 and a No2 Mk1** revolver became a No2 Mk1/2. So after a certain date Mk2* bayonet - in the Army's eyes becomes a Mk2/1.

I don't think it's a flaming bomb Jim; looking under a magnifying glass it looks like an "8" but I'm not 100% certain.
