    1920 Lithgow SMLE

what would be a fair price for this in the current usa market?
    thanks

as far as I can tell its all as it would have been when it left the factory in 1920 except for the shiny wood and the ears cut off and the surface rust that always looks worse in photos than in person

Depending on the bore MrE and knowing the early Lithgows are getting good value now over here they range from $650 ~ $900 but it is all to do with the bore like the top price would be one with a 8/10 bore (never got that term but thats what they are using) what I find interesting is the green paint on the knox and no where else also the FH in a circle any chance of a few pics of the knox for the forum also I do not see the legs missing as a real big deal others might but it is part of its history.
It may have had another barrel fitted other that an enfield so this may or may not affect the value and of course the bottom line is what some one is willing to buy it for.
    Nice looking rifle

Here is some additional pictures. The barrel is the original barrel dated 4'20. I would give the barrel 5/10. I have never shot this one and the bore is dark but 20 rounds should freshen it up.
The green paint is all over the barrel as far as I can see. I have not taken this one apart and I dont intend to.

I believe the stamp is one used during the post WW2 period by the police in Austriaicon

Wow! $650-$900? I encounter SMLE's of all walks of life regularly at shows (Lithgows as well) for $300-$400 (Ohio/Kentucky area) the highest dollar Enfield's I encounter are Savage (because of the US collectors), the 4-T's of course and the .22 trainers. It seems like everything else gets lumped into the same $300-$400 range. Of course condition brings more and specialty rifles as well. I'm heading to the National Gun Day show tomorrow in Louisville. All this talk about Enfields makes me want to pick another one up tomorrow.
