Odd Making on No1 MkIII

I was going to wait til I had the rifle in hand, but this marking has me perplexed. I can find only unanswered posts about it on other forums. It looks to be a WS with the S larger than the W. The closest thing I found was Wilkinson but they are a sword maker. Did they ever have anything to do with rifles? Not that it is their exact marking.

S could be a sold out of service and the W could mean worn cord others may chime in to assist if I am incorrect they will set the record straight hope this helps.

I suppose the barrel could have been replaced after the marking was made. The bore is excellent and the muzzle does not look out of shape.

I think it is a W as well. However the Malaysian Police Marked No5 M does look more like an upside down W.

I'd suspect a gimped stamp required the use of the the other letter...like upside down 2's and 5's...

The sales mark is always surrounded by the broad arrow marks, at least on ever sample I have seen.

Checking my copy of "The Broad Arrow" does not show this marking anyplace. I would suggest it was applied after service, but of course defer to folks more educated. The handguard indicates some use post service, as the handguard would have been repaired in service, but not in ex-colonial police use.

#4 Skennertons The Broad Arrow was my first port of call Frederick so only went by the singular letter that S almost looks like it has been engraved if we could eventually get some good clear shots from directly above and any other markings this rifle this may have could help solve the riddle.
