I was there picked up a nice MK1* P14, intend to build a repro sniper
I hope you're not referring to the No. 3 Mk.I (F) rifle (lot #400) - if it's matching numbers, do not destroy it by adding a scope mount!
Typical Scotty description, it was a P14 with a Parker Hale target sight fitted. I was intending to bid if it was in fact a (W)F. The Canadian 4ts were iffy but to be honest the prices they went for was less than the parts.
What was the average price watty ? any of the German "Snipers" straight or bent as a....
Nearly all snipers had issues, already from the poor descriptions .. and some pictures clearly showed the bases are reproductions. Like one LB No. 4 T, you could see the front scope pad is not blued at all..
Lot #400 was described to be a P.14 (F) rifle.
Good to talk yesterday Watty, at least thats another collector in the North I know of..... when you get round to posting pics (its not too hard) look foreword to seeing some of the collection.
If a P-14 (F) has a Fine sight and is a Winchester, then it is already a sniper rifle. See Skennerton. In 1917-1918 These were issued 3 per battalion for sniping. The scoped versions were not the only sniper variants. As well, British and Canadian photos show P-14s with target sights being used in sniper training early in WWII.
“There are invisible rulers who control the destinies of millions. It is not generally realized to what extent the words and actions of our most influential public men are dictated by shrewd persons operating behind the scenes.”
Edward Bernays, 1928
Much changes, much remains the same.
I'm reliably informed that some lots sent by Greater Manchester Police had to be pulled PDQ as they were an innocent shooters property.
