When was the last time you saw this for sale?

    M1icon garand gas trap barrel

sold for $990 with 9 bids

Springfield armory produced gas trap rifles from 1937 through 1940 . This is a very nice example of a gas trap barrel. I purchased this barrel many years ago as a real USGI barrel although I will not guarantee it's authenticity . The drawing number is D-28286 , heatlot is J-16-B . It has a large P proof on the right side with the punchmark in the P . The chamber is in the white . The throat measurement is 5.0 , well within usable range. This is a nice shooter barrel and would make a good part for any gas trap restoration. This barrel could be original but I am selling it as a reproduction due to the fact that I cannot authenticate it's originality . Bid as if a reproduction but may be authentic as I cannot verify.

All the original gas trap barrels that I have seen or have purchased - do NOT have a second step in the barrel in front of the lower band pin slot because gas trap barrels have a taper not a step.

Gas port barrels have a step only

I have data on serial number 22019 that has a D-28286 J-16-B barrel
