Full gear, including a bandoleer on the second man from the back, right side. I wonder of this is a step off for one of the crossings? Also, photog is on THIS side of them for once...

Looks like the town is Neuburg am Rhein, Germany for those that might want to Google Earth this one...

Exactly, the bayonets fitted before getting into the close confines of those boats would be uncomfortable...too.
