1917 Enfield: Blown Away!

I got an email today from J&G Sales. They are selling a batch of 1917 Enfield's most over $1,000.00 was blown away by the price and even more blown way that people are buying them!

Am I wrong in thinking these rifles at J&G are over priced or am I just so old that the price seems massive?

The price seems high to me.
Normally, here over the pond, that level is reached by 1916 or older SMELLIes, provided they have the cut-off and the volley sights.
And in good or very good conditions.

That does seem a bit steep, especially if they're parkerized mixmasters. Was going to sell my Rem in original blue at a recent show for $850 but now I'll keep it. Thanks for the thread!

I think they're steep too, considering they are likely put-togethers...they are getting scarce though.

Ah, I forgot the windage-adjustable rear sight;-)

Which was deleted in mid 1916 Ovidio mine is a 4/1916 5MD Lithgow and retains the windage rear sight and the mag cut off do not know about the latter as to whether it was still fitted in that period or had been fitted later on I know for a short period in the late 30's or early 40's they came back for a very short time but were then discontinued I will drag it out one day and do a decent photo shoot of it as the last one I did with an I-Phone 4 and it looked well not so good.

I'd like to havo one like that. When I found it I could not afford it, but it was just a question of weeks.
Once I was ok the rifle was gone already.
So I settled for a dispersal one, which I like a lot, but for the impossibility of adjusting the windage without getting crazy.

Yes The price for an M1917 .30 caliper, that price is high, but it seems to me some replies are for the .303 British SMLE, or Sht LE, in which case it would be still very high.

It looks like J&G Sales purchased someone's collection Prices are way too high for rebuilt M1917s. Probably trying to cash in on the 100th anniversary of America's entry into WWI.
