1915 Mk III LSA

Just picked up this 1915 MK III LSA. Has to be the dirties milsurp that I have ever had. It has not been cleaned for a long time. The receiver, bolt, barrel and sights match. It went back through arsenal in 1929. What I found interesting is that the metal was painted green. I have seen black so this was something new. Thought I would share.

It is not a beauty queen but obviously is a tough old lady. I sure that would be many stories if able to talk.

Green paint was a WWII anti rust preventative requirement in all theaters of war.

It's common to find SMLE's with the green paint under the woodwork. I thought though it was a rust preventive measure but in the Far East.

Someone knows the P.R marking meaning (photo no. 1)?

I have a 1929 Ishapore with the same marking and no painting.
