    Savage No4 Mk1* Resurection...

So I've got a line on a sporterized Savage No4 Mk1* for under $300. I have a spare stock set at home (birch I think), so assuming that the rifle is in good condition, would I need anything more than the stock bands and associated screws to bring it back to life?

Possibly the front sight protectors has the barrel been shortened if so the bayonet lugs may have been removed so your going to need another barrel

I'm still waiting on more photos so I can't say for sure yet. Hopefully it's not that extensive a chop job.

Assuming it's not, is restocking the rifle something I can do in my garage or am I better off paying to have someone more knowledgeable handle?

May I suggest you use the search engine top Rt look for the threads that Peter L has written up about draws etc there is also a very good book by Roger Wadham ISBN 9781471603112 you can get it as an E-book I think I have it is a good resource. If you have the skills at wood work carry on but if in doubt find some one who has experience with the Lee Enfield bedding system its not just a drop in fit.
Anyway there are those here that will help you with it with questions who have that experience Brian Dickicon is very good and does them up well he is BDLicon Limited here is Brians shop https://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&r...ddPpv6cqhyYOI5

Good luck its well worth bringing the ol' girls back to their original trim.

Another thing you need is to get the price below $200.
