    Question About DCM Sporter Rifles

Hello. This afternoon I posted about my newly acquired Springfield 1903 sporter, Serial # 1343992.

rcathy was kind enough to inform me that my rifle's serial number falls within a block of DCM sales and actually falls right next to a confirmed DCM Sporter with Serial # 1343991, 1343991 SPT 071730 DCM RIFLE SALES 1922-42

rcathy further commented that he wouldn't be surprised a bit if my rifle was an original DCM Sporter.

My question is, is it possible for my Springfield to be an original DCM Sporter even though its serial number is not a hit in the records?

    Thank you!

Oh definitely! More likely than not, in fact. It’s in a veritable sea of sporters. I’d bet money it’s an original sporter.
The checkering isn’t like the type usually seen but that doesn’t detract from it in my mind.
