Not so much a riot as a failed revolution, the belligerents attempted to assassinate Truman that month also.
The unit is from the Puerto Rican National Guard, in response to the Jayuya uprising.
I love that woody wagon in the background! It looks like it could be built on a 1949/50 Ford pickup chassis.
