    Berthier Mle 1992 MD carbine

Found this apparently all matching Berthier Mle 1892 carbine today..no crossed out numbers, appears pretty original.
However...'N' marked, clearing rod channel filled in. Barrel date of 1913..The stacking hook is curious. Curved at the end, no 'ball'.
What would this be classed as as far as model goes?

Forgotten Weapons has a great video series on the Berthiers describing the updates done to them.

One of the updates was removing the cleaning rod and replacing it with a stacking rod as they no longer used the cleaning rod in doctrine and they also had used the cleaning rods to stack the rifles. When I get home, I will try and find the exact model/update # if no one has found it by then. Overall though very nice little carbine, apparently they kick like a mule if your using standard ammo.

Frenchicon arms continue to confuse and fascinate me all at the same time.
I'm aware that during the Great War, these were slapped together to keep rifles and carbines in the field..niceties such as matching components weren't given a second thought. I'm guessing then that this would be an artillery carbine(?)
Or....with the curved stacking hook would this be one of the unofficial 'colonial' carbines? However, this one has had the clearing rod channel filled in, its obviously gone through the '27 rebuild..possible that it just happened to be an available part?
Love the history behind these things!
