I have recently obtained a Winchester M1 in the 2,400,000 SN range from a private seller which surveys out as pure Winchester. ALL parts and components are WRA. 3 small parts although WRA do not fit in the time of original production but are close enough to perhaps be production "switch overs". All metal is in very good condition with no rust and excellent original finish. Bore is perfect and the Barrel gauges out at 1 1/2 at both the muzzle and breech The one down side is the Stock, (which is WRA), has been sanded to the point that all Cartouches are gone and then refinished with a shiny and poorly applied finish. (I suspect LinSpeed). I have removed this finish and am in the process re-doing the stock with BLO. My understanding is that this Rifle might be considered more of a "Collector" rather than a "Shooter" and I have no idea of its value. Can any one please enlighten me as to what this Rifles value might be? I fully intend to shoot the Rifle but if its Collector value is high I should probably sell it and get the Shooter I want. All comments will be appreciated.Information
