    Parker Hale Scope bases (blocks)

I have a number of bases for which I can not find any reference regarding their application. They are numbered "4440C", "4440P" and "4440V". I have the listing of Parker Hale base's that came on the back card of a BA 22 / BA 28 set, but these are not listed. Any "long memory" folks out there might recall what these were for?

They suited various rifles of the time like the Midland/Varmint and the Scout and were exactly that, sight blocks drilled appropriately for the variety of PH rifles. Sounds like they might have come off scrapped rifles, is that the case?

Laying them on the table and using Mark 1 eye-ball measuring gauge and right index feeler gauge, the 4440V appear identical to BA 28 and the 4440P appear identical to the BA 22. That would make a pair suitable for Mauser 98 based rifles. There were 4 of each in a bag of loose PH bases I bought from a retiring gun store owner - 16 pounds of them, as I recall.
The 4440C has the same side height as the BA 22, but is made to fit a much larger cylinder - in the order of 1.5" radius (3" diameter) or so, much like the Weaver #47 used as rear base on various Browning rifles. Has .860"-ish hole spacing with scope ring stud recess between the holes.
    Thanks for the information!
