    Yes the rebuild facilities and the soldiers sanded more cartouches off then anyone else did.

    Yes indeed, and that's one reason why the post WWII stocks started out "beefyer". For subsequent rebuilds.

    Yes, and at some arsenals - it seems they used the roughest horse shoe rasp they could find to do it.
