Does anyone else use muzzle cap/sight protectors?

Just wondering if anyone else uses these.

I didn't even know they existed until I was looking for some missing accessories for a new acquisition. The site which I found one or 2 of the parts happened to have these for the specific gun in question so I added it to the order. Since then I like to buy them if available.

Apparently, rifles were often delivered with these to protect the muzzles/sights and prevent foreign objects and creepy crawlies from entering the bore during transit and storage. I understand some of the Germanicon factories had ones that had a hinged flap to be used as a cleaning rod guide to prevent muzzle damage. Some are even serialed.

It's understandable that they might have been set aside when issued most likely by the arms rooms and such as nuisance. For a collector I think they are kinda cool and are good for the originally intended purpose.

Lots of guys here have those for their different rifles as an accessory and I expect display them wearing them. I don't with new types like the caplug that the AR family has as they promote rust as I've seen in past experiences, probably not in an oiled safe queen...but I still don't. The ones you show should be fine like they are. LE, Springfield and Mauser have some dressy types. Others will be along shortly...
    Regards, Jim
