Good Day All,
It was a cold Thanksgiving Day but the local flea market was still open. Despite a lack of dealers, I spotted something that caught my eye. The seller stated he had it for many years but didn't know any history about it and that it was time to pass it on. After some back and forth negotiating, it came home with me.
The enclosure is a 10 inch poured Plexiglass/Acrylic block which contains six pewter(?) Rifle/Team/Match Shooting members in the sitting shooting position. All are wearing shooting jackets (note the elbow pads), shooting glove, Campaign (Stetson) Style felt shooting covers, and firing M1Garands.
The detail on the figures is good but I can't tell if they represent a US ARMY or USMC Shooting Team members since there are no Cap devices on the covers. There are no marking on the bottom of the block.
Has anyone ever seen another example?
Was it intended as a award?
Is it suppose to represent the Marine Corps or Army and what timeframe?
I look forward to the response.
Regards,
Mike
