    Yes but where and when? They're in fighting order and cold weather gear and one man has frag apparent...I thought maybe Germanyicon but the frag would be out of place.

    I am surprised they are using mess tray in a field environment. Usually it's the old mess kit. I figure the photo is from the late 50's to early 60's based on the head gear and uniform patches and name tapes.

    The M14s place it squarely within 1959 to 1964 don't they...

    My Army National Guard unit had them for about a year in the mid-70's before switching to the M16A1.
