    Bren Gun marking disc ?

I have what I think is a Canadianicon made Bren No.1 butt stock .It has a what, I think is a missing marking disc. It is located on the right side between the ring for the sling and the operating slide cover .The cut out is 7/8''of inch in dia. . Is this for a marking disc , and was it used only on the Canadian built No.1 Bren Gun ? Can any one tell me where I get one ? If it is a marking disc were they ever used in service to mark any thing ?

Exactly the same disc as used on the rifle and used in exactly the same way on both UKicon and Canadianicon Mk1 Brens. One of the first things to be declared obsolete so it is a fairly early butt. There is a good little book about butt marking discs and their markings in UK service available from BDLicon in SC as I recall. Excellent reading too.......

Both brass and steel. Steel later due to brass being declared as a strategic war material
