What would be the "US term" for the sea boat/service boat that the soldiers/marines are getting out of, please? I would describe it as a "whaler" which in this context is purely a small sea boat/service boat normally carried by a ship and I believe is originally a Royal Navy term when used in this context. Used in this context, it does not imply a boat used for the hunting or killing of whales.
