    Ocular lenses ALDIS

I am about to have 2x sets of ALDIS Pattern/type 1 and 2 ocular lenses re-manufactured. If you want a set, PM me. Cost will be cost to me +£20, paid up front.

Maybe someone who knows about these things can tell me if the type 1 and 2 are identical to the type 4.

I will try a set of P1/P2 lenses in a P4 and let you know. I suspect though it was the different erector cell set up in early patterns that gave powers between 2.5 x to later 3x.

Tried set of 1915 Aldis P1 ocular lenses in a 1916 Aldis P4 and visa versa and there is no noticeable difference. I also measured the lenses and there are negligible dimensionable differences.

Just looking at the optical train between the Aldis patterns, I wouldn't imagine that there would be any optical difference between the ocular lens sets - as matched pairs. As for the slight dimensional differences, I've noticed that in the past but I would say that that was due to selective fitting of lenses to housings and/or housings to lenses.

I have ordered and paid for 10 (5 sets) of these ocular lenses. £80 each. Just a week to consider this last-off offer. After next Friday it's £110 each. So if you've got an Aldis, get a set now
