    1903 Spare Parts Container

Hello, I discovered this in an auction lot I won. Just wondering if it is authentic? And what would be the current value?

    Thanks

    Spare Parts Container...

I am reasonably certain that this was an issue item at one time or another. It fit in the larger hole in the buttstock, often having a corresponding groove. If I recall properly, they were issued as 1 for 2 rifles: one rifle got a cleaning kit, the next got a spare parts container. Experts would know better than I, but I think you have some nice "Butt trap candy" there. My $.02

It’s definitely a real item that was issued at one time.

The authenticity of this one is still the question though. Someone did make a run of reproductions at one time.

However, even those are rare! I’d feel pretty safe valuing your item at $500.

Good find! I live for finding stuff like that just tossed into a lot at auction.

Thanks! This place is truly a wealth of knowledge!

And I completely agree. It was like a little treasure hunt through the box. There was also a really rare L2A1 recoil reducer in there too.

Nice piece, even if repro, not very often seen out of captivity. I'd want one if I was still collecting.
    Regards, Jim

From what I can see in your pictures, yours appears to be authentic.

    Merry Christmas!

Can you post a picture of the cutout of the striker looking straight down and the end curve. Also the other two cutouts. I used to make these as reproduction.
