Nice piece, very nice. Of course there's another claimed...everyone wants to say they have it. A very collectible car.

I saw that when he first posted on 2/1/20, Mark Felton does a commendable effort on all his episodes.![]()
Yeah Mark Felton does some good short skits along with another chap with DarkDocs who I watched today on the US one way squads armed with minature nukes in backpacks with a 1 - 10 Kt yield parachuted in to do the deed in their eyes a one way mission only the best of the best SEALS and Special force soldiers were trained into these squads was pretty good doco.
I believe that I've mentioned before on here, one Goring's Mercedes limousine convertibles that made a "tour" of the UKin the 1950's for fundraising purposes. It was on display, for a time, at the garage that my father happened to be working for and basically you paid a small fee so that you could sit in the back and "check out" the various accessories not normally found on such Mercedes. This car had all manner of additional features such as "bullet proof glass" and various compartments etc for storage of such things as weapons. Apparently some testing of the cars bullet proof credentials had been carried out after capture by allied soldiers.
This was a 4 door limousine and NOT the 2 door convertible which Goring also owned, and has been restored, and some confuse between the 2 cars. Obviously someone of Goring's stature and position in Hitler's regime was likely to own or have access to more than one car.
After the "charity tour" of the UK I am not entirely clear as to what exactly happened to this car.
Our war museum used to have Goering's car displayed. That was back in '79 though, don't know if it was just passing through...
Regards, Jim
One of Hitler's cars remains on display at the CWM. I don't recall one of Goering's but the entire collection isn't out, even at the new location.
Felton must be some real investigative journalist. I watched several of his episodes on WW2 history and have been impressed immensely.
Interesting case that. Heydrich was killed with a biologically contaminated grenade IIRC. One of the Czechs in the team sold out the others and that is how they were tracked down. Col. Moravec mentions the case in his memoir. The traitor was offered a huge sum and a new identity by the Germans, and convinced they were "unbeatable" he accepted; he was brought to justice after the war.
The purpose of the op was to provoke the Germans into some atrocities and measures which would upset the status quo in Czechoslovakiaand interfere with their war production there.
The Germans of course obliged, but only Lidice was "liquidated" as someone in the Germanchain of command prevailed on Hitler not to upset the apple cart by the much larger massacres he wanted to perpetrate in revenge.
“There are invisible rulers who control the destinies of millions. It is not generally realized to what extent the words and actions of our most influential public men are dictated by shrewd persons operating behind the scenes.”
Edward Bernays, 1928
Much changes, much remains the same.
That's just a random theory proposed by an ex-chem weapons scientist, because of the mods made to the anti-tank grenade. No evidence exists to support it, or no evidence exists available to the public, to support it. What medical records exist of Heydrich's treatment afterwards indicate he showed none of the systems associated with botulism, the claimed agent used. One of the 2 Czechagents that did the attack was also injured by the exploding grenade and had it been a bio agent, he would have been likely died or showed symptoms before the Germans eventually got to them. Given the crude mods to the anti-tank grenade, and the time and method taken to deploy them and it all the way to Prague, I think its a very fanciful theory.
