S&W just might not be amused! The use of their name and trademark, plus the implication that they would manufacture such a gun, could (and probably should) lead to a suit against the "joker" who did this.

Well to be honest with you Jim, this little joke has been around in many forms for many years. I have seen " Newfie " guns like this. I have even sen a Luger in a gun show atleast 10 years ago like this.
I doubt that S&W would lose much sleep over this. If they wanted to lead a charge against the " joker " who made this ad, they will have to line up behind the krauts, Newfies and others.

Ken, well I thought it was funny. I'm beginning to think reading through the comments posted on various topics we have lot's of posters that I'm sure voted for BHO....

I am sure S&W has seen worse, but trademark protection is a very big thing with most companies. Quite a few fiction writers have had a character go into a restaurant and order "a coke" only to receive a letter from Coca-Cola's attorneys informing him that "Coke" is a registered trademark and must be capitalized and noted as such. The reason is that, unlike a patent, trade names and trademarks are valid forever, but if the company fails to protect them, they become public domain. Eastman failed to protect its "Kodak" tradename and it became a common name for a camera, so then other companies began to sell "kodaks", usually junk imitations, hurting Eastman's name and reputation.

From what the message says ("Democrats doom and gloom got you down?") The ones who would be the potential customers would be us, not the Liberals.
