[/COLOR]There have been one or two others that the picures were lost to Photobucket (may the roast in H@ll), including an Israeli Mash Az issued UNderwood with Israeli proofs and some black Sten gun paint residue. I miss the unmolested 1943 most, and the Quality Hardware second. My new Inland will be a good replacement, though.

I too have none. My last one was an early Winchester that I assembled from parts. An early low number, it was in great shape so I thought, and I looked forward to years of enjoyment. The receiver cracked along the top of the groove the left lug of the bolt runs in so that was the end of it. I guess it has seen all the miles in the world and was refinished and sold as excellent condition...so I parted it out and turned the receiver in to de-register it as we must here.

All my really neat early carbines were back in the '70's. You remember the '70's...

LOL, I DO remember the 70s... First I was in the Big Green Machine, then I was a "wet behind the ears" Deputy Sheriff who thought he had a bid red S on his chest.... LOL Also, by 1977, I was married an already had three kids!!!!

Well, I too was army in '74 and stayed there. 1977 saw me in Australia carrying an M60 in the Lantana... The rest, married ('79)and kids all came in time.

We'd go to Vancouver BC across the straights and buy carbines from the pawn shops. They'd all been released from the guys you folk sent them to for support, come in through Allan Lever (Lever Arms) in Vancouver or Century Arms Montreal... I think they averaged $125 CDN then.

LOL! I hated to carry the "Pig" (M60). Fired it in basic and AIT in 1974, then not again until about 1980 when I was in the Air Force Reserve as an SP. Went to a two Air Base Ground Defense school and was the 60 gunner for our flight for the whole two weeks. They were awful to clean, especially after shooting that nasty, filthy, blank ammo.

Call me dedicated...as the MG crew #2 it fell to me to carry our 1919A4 type and so when downunder I suggested it was also my job to get the 60. The #1 didn't argue and took an M16A1 on issue. I was younger then, wouldn't want to hump the bamboo again with one of those. Cleaning, well I was used to cleaning the MG anyway... Besides, it set me aside from the others. We used the plastic blanks though and it really didn't work with them. Ball was fine.
