When I ate them they still had 3-packs of cigarettes... I remember Chesterfields and Old Golds, I liked them both.

I had those in Ft Wainwright AK, Bear should remember those. Benson and Hedges 100s, Camel...thought they were fours though. I'm probably just remembering wrong.

You're so right about the down time and meal companions, Jim. They could make a meal out of anything.
That's why soldiers make the best bums, they can sit around a fire eating whatever they've found, sharing smokes that almost gone and drinking coffee out of a tin can...and be happy.
