    No 4 7.62 barrel ID?

Some years ago, I bought a military profile 7.62 barrel to suit a number 4.

It has lugs for the foresight, but no bayonet lugs; parkerized finish.
"Crossed flags" proofs, looks like 6 groove RH twist rifling.

"AW" stamp is the only other marking on the barrel.

Any thoughts on where this may have been made?

Might be commercial. Long Branch made a of of 308 barrels as the one you describe, Look for a "C" with and "A" inside of it. It will be about 1/16 inch high.

"...a "C" with and "A" inside of it..." That's not a Canadianicon stamp.
Might be a sniper rifle barrel. The crossed flags with no letters are a bolt head proof mark. Most likely a Parker Hale barrel though.
    Spelling and Grammar count!

If you have made a mistake and it is an 'A' within a 'C', then it IS a Canadianicon Arsenals stamp isn't it? Certainly according to our EMER's it is. It features on some of our L8 rifles! Crossed flags are the UKicon Military proof....., letters or no letters. They are also other Commonwealth proofs too.

I think your barrel is a standard Canadian Arsenal 7.62mm No4 barrel

The barrel only has the proof mark, and two capital letters marked on it.
An "A" and a "W" stamped side by side, down about 1/4 of the length of the barrel from the chamber end.

The barrel is a Canadianicon made barrel. One of the DCRA barrels that were sold off (a few were sold without being breeched up). You will also find Canadian 7.62 barrels in the white WITH the bayonet lugs. Those also were made by Canadian Arsenals.

I have one of each, with and without bayonet lugs. Both excellent shooters!
