Still working on that Berdan Rifle Sling

Was bored tonight so did some looking and found photos of Berdans with brass buckle that just slide adjusts and has the loop and brass button on the other end. Have one here at the house. So I found a piece of rawhide I had lying around, studied the knot on the one already on the rifle and managed an approximate one, put the sling on and the rawhide ring snapped on the first test.

Where can I get stronger rawhide?
