Nice one.......
The first Webley I bought was that one NOS, still wrapped in grease paper.
I couldn't afford to pay for it at that time so I put it on layaway at Fairway Pawn & Loan.
I put $2.00 down on a $35.00 Webley.NIB
That was a long time ago in another life.
One of the first cartridges I reloaded was for the Webley with 158gr cast bullet.
At the cinder pit on a sunny day you could see the bullet in flight.

I read a post (joking) long ago, that the .38 was more for shooting your own troops if they should break and run. I have a Singapore police issued one. I'm amazed that the cartridge was adopted for military use.
Fun to shoot though.
The .38/200 loading with the 200 grain long lead bullet is so marginally stable that it tumbles immediately. The light 145s can go through, but the 200s rarely did. The long nosed 174 FMJs tumbled almost as well. I am going to load a batch of 200 grainers for them. I get the Enfield tomorrow and the Webley next Saturday.
An older gentleman came into the gun shop with the 38 Webley. Said it was his father's for many years. He did not know where he got it, but he had it in the 50s when the seller was a kid. He didn't want it. I asked him what he wanted and he said "$300, so I bought it.
It is a Webley Mk IV .38. It is marked marked "War Finish" and serial number is 82953. It has a bright bore, and very tight action. Functions perfectly on both single and double action. The RAF holster and lanyard, and P37 ammo pouch were purchased separately.

I had one of those too, "War finish" types. It was OK but had been converted to some Canadianpolice force gun post war. Had a tin rear sight wrapped around the back strap and the foresight was ground to a shark fin look. It wanted the lighter bullets to shoot to the sights as they had been converted.
