Donor NPM Flip Sight

I Sold One of my NPM M1 Carbine's to a Good Friend who is Ret. Military and what he Offered and Paid for it after seeing all the Parts so I wouldn't list it and since it had a terrible Fake Flip Sight on it which I told him it was Not a Original one. I thought I would purchase a New Fake Donor NPM Flip Sight which I told him I would do before he gave payment. I bought it from that Seller who lists them as USGI Military I think y'all know who they are. I also thought I would share a couple of Magnified Pictures of it.

About the price of the Repro

Like my original, the TN letters are very thin. They almost look like they were cut with a thin scribe. The repops almost always are thick by comparison.

Well, that flip sight just got a free promotional boost, not that it needed it. Anywho, back to the topic; assuming this "guy" you know is actually going to install said fake sight on his carbine, thus inviting the possibility of damaging the dovetail, which can happen on removal or installation, my question would be why take the risk for a fake only to turn right around and take the same risk yet again when the alleged real one arrives? Now, I am assuming he will install it, but if not why even bother with a fake?

I thought MR was playing with us / me. It wouldn't be the 1st time he's messed with me. And sometimes his messages are hard to understand and I've got to re-contact him to verify gray areas. His own Wife will tell you he can't explain Crap.

I don't own a NPM that has a Flip on it.
I added the pictures so guys like JimB and others could call it real or repro.
I'd looked this one over because I don't see many TN sights. After seeing it what seemed odd to me was what looked to be a replaced leaf spring. The pin appeared to be roughly re-staked and the upside down S.

I don't recall the order I looked the sellers Flip sights over...

Inland Flip also has a upside down S and shows heavy bash marks on both sides of the base but with no finish loss in those areas. It appeared to me as being re-finished after the Bashing and then some finish wear on the bottom edges and some finish loss on the tall leaf from rotating. So likely used after being re-finished ? Maybe a ill fitting repro ?

Wra Flip has pin staking that seemed off to me compared to my examples. Sq S looked ok, so gave thought that maybe it was a Flip used by another maker with their type staking.

With at times up to 50 Flip sights up for auction at any given time and 95+% of those being Repro but offered up as Original. Odds are against you and bad purchases will happen. Some of those real ones will slip by also. It's cold out there....
