    Well, that is the Mexican crest. Do you have the rest of the action? The Mex is as good as any small-ring and better than most. An old gunsmith in Albuquerque (Jim Bedeaux) told me the Mexican armory was buying steel from Winchester, at least in earlier days. By 1943 that was probably not an option. Later the FN de Armas made this rifle in 30-06
