    Question Are these markings authentic?

    Are these markings authentic?

This is clearly a 1903/early Garandicon USGI bayo, however, the "US", "SA" and "1918" characters have been dimpled. The "US" characters do in fact appear to have a shallow stamped outline within which the dimples are placed. I can not see any outline of the "SA" and "1918" characters.

    Has anyone seen this before?

I never saw one, but to me it looks like someone had a punch, hammer and too much time on their hands.

LOL, thats a good point! Perhaps done after over-polishing...and no common sense used?

Not a correctly marked bayonet and I'd be interested to see the rest. It may just be one of the Chinese copies...after some refubishing.
    Regards, Jim
