    Collecting tripod identification plates

These all came from the Rock Island Arsenal salvage yard some years ago. I had a good friend that worked with people who bid on salvage lots sold by the arsenal. The demil tripods were often restored but some could not be repaired had the identification plates removed.

I ended-up with the the small collection of data plates.

Notice the early WW2 years the plates were brass then later on they changed to aluminum

I noticed the differences when I was just 17/18 and doing my MG course. Later carrying the .30 cal and dealing with all the tripods/EIS I studied the government stampings like this. I saw brass, steel and aluminum from many varied manufacturers. Never thought of swiping them, no one would have noticed.

I see some Frank J Atwood and Norman F Ramsey's in there...
